Having recently had a major resurgence in the horological world courtesy of the stunning 25H Tourbillon, odds were on that there’d be some pretty special watches to be found in the new Gucci flavoured blockbuster biopic, House of Gucci. With stars like Al Pacino, Lady Gaga, Jeremy Irons, Adam Driver and Jared Leto, we were not disappointed.
Adam Driver – Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso

While the legendary Patek Philippe Ref. 2523 doesn’t actually get any screen time on a character’s wrist, at one point in the film Maurizio Gucci, played by Adam Driver, discusses buying it. These days the world timer can fetch multiple millions at auction, with one selling in May 2021 for CHF 7,048,000 at Phillips’ Geneva Watch Auction. So, you can see why it would appeal to the head of the fashion giant (prior to his assassination of course). His actual watch in the film is a Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso.

Patek Philippe Ref. 2523
For those unfamiliar with the Gucci family, Maurizio was the grandson of the company’s founder, Guccio Gucci, and was assassinated in 1995 on the orders of his ex wife Patrizia Reggiani, played by Lady Gaga.
Jeremy Irons – Vacheron Constantin Overseas
Next up is the watch sported by Jeremy Irons’ Rodolfo Gucci, Maurizio’s father, and it could be a little divisive. The Vacheron Constantin Overseas in pink gold was first produced in 1996, making its inclusion in the film anachronistic, although it’s not the only example of the House of Gucci playing fast and loose with the truth – the modern day Gucci family claim it’s wildly inaccurate, even though the film’s creators had unlimited access to the Gucci brand’s archives.
Regardless, the watch itself is still lovely with a 41mm diameter and the signature Maltese cross inspired bezel. It certainly fits the aesthetic of Gucci in the mid 90s and doesn’t look at all out of place.
Al Pacino – Breguet Classique Moonphase
Another example of style over period accuracy is the Breguet Classique Moonphase worn by Al Pacino’s rendition of Aldo Gucci. With a 39mm diameter case and a grand feu enamel dial featuring the titular moonphase, a power reserve indicator and Breguet hands and numerals, it’s a great looking watch.
Aldo and his son Paolo are the only blockade preventing Maurizio and by extension Patrizia from gaining a majority stake in the company. At least until Patrizia manipulates the situation to her advantage.
Jared Leto – Gucci Gold Watch

Paolo Gucci, portrayed by an almost unrecognisable Jared Leto, has perhaps one of the saddest stories in the film. He has a genuine passion for the Gucci brand and wants to become a designer in the company but unfortunately lacks the talent to make that dream a reality, eventually leading him into poverty and trouble. However, he is credited with creating the iconic Double G logo that became a brand staple.
As a nod to his connection to the Gucci brand, he’s one of the few characters in House of Gucci who actually sports a vintage Gucci watch, a large gold number with brand’s signature red and green stripes across the dial. It’s big, bombastic and Gucci through and through.
