BA111OD is an intriguing independent watch brand willing to experiment and explore numerous horological and aesthetic ideas with their watches. They recently tackled dress watches with the Chapter 8 but in 2025 they introduced their integrated bracelet sports watch with the Chapter 7. They are returning to the Chapter 7 now for a visual update to the model with a new reference: the BA111OD Chapter 7 Skeleton.
Skeletonization in watchmaking is the process of removing material from the dial and movement in order to leave only the essential components. Only the bare minimum of bridges are left to keep the movement fixed in place and operational, creating an architectural appearance supported by a skeletal framework, hence the name skeleton display. It differs slightly from the term openworked, which is the removal of the dial to see the unaltered movement beneath.

The easiest way to determine if a watch is skeletonised or openworked is to check if you can see all the way through the movement at any point. If you can, it is a skeleton. The Chapter 7 Skeleton lives up to this as you can see through the bridges near 12 o’clock and through the balance spring. The power barrel at 6 o’clock has also had its cover removed to expose the mainspring inside, which you can see coil tighter and tighter as the watch is wound.
Interestingly they haven’t even used a special movement for this edition. It’s the same Soprod P024 that you find in the standard Chapter 7 with automatic winding and a 38-hour power reserve. Notably the skeleton version of the movement has not undergone chronometer certification like the standard Chapter 7.

Housing the movement and skeleton display is a 40mm diameter steel case with anthracite grey PVD finish. It’s available exclusively on an integrated steel bracelet, completing the sports-chic silhouette. It also maintains the signature details of the standard Chapter 7 such as the facetted bezel and 4 o’clock crown.

It’s priced at £1,055 excl. taxes in a non-limited edition. That’s roughly £300 higher than the standard model on bracelet due to the newly skeletonised display and PVD case finish. Those updates do make for a watch that feels meaningfully different to the original version. It’s much more technical in appearance and slightly more industrial leaning. If that matches your preference, what more could you ask for?
