The story of Brad Pitt’s 1952 Patek Philippe Reference 2458 remains something of a mystery. Back in 2014 reports were circulating of the actor’s former wife Angelina Jolie paying anything between £2-4 million for the highly collectible timepiece and gifting it to her husband. One paper claimed that Angelina had even had the caseback engraved ‘To Roly from Nessa’ in a reference to the man and wife they played in the relationship drama By The Sea. Pretty soon there were denials and counter claims by various collectors and dealers – the watch had been sold at auction for a record-breaking $4 million… and not to Brad or Angelina. Since the golden couple have now announced their impending divorce we will probably never know the whole truth, but rumours do prove one thing; former TAG Heuer brand ambassador Brad Pitt loves his watches.

With a collection that takes in not just Patek Philippe, he also loves Cartier, Rolex (he owns a GMT, a Submariner, a Daytona and a Day Date) and A. Lange & Söhne, as well as more niche, left-field marques such as Terra Cielo Mare and Red Monkey Designs.

Brad Pitt spotted wearing his Patek Philippe Nautilus
Brad likes to rock a timepiece in his films, too – a TAG Heuer Kirium in the sports movie Moneyball and a TAG Heuer Carrera in Babel. We do know that he has one Patek Philippe – a $300,000 Nautilus given to him by Angelina to mark their engagement. Let’s hope he managed to keep hold of it after their lawyers had done their worst…
