UNDONE Launch Their First Ever Worldtimer Complication Watch, The Aptly Named Aero Worldtimer

Undone Aero Worldtimer Green

It’s no secret that UNDONE is a watch brand that divides opinion. On the one hand timepieces like the Dark Knight Retrospective are comically bizarre, while on the other watches like the Vintage Salmon are classy and attractive. It’s consequently tricky to predict how a debut complication from UNDONE will be received. From my first impression, the new Aero Worldtimer will go down a treat.

There are three watches in the Aero Worldtimer collection, the Doolittle, the Hughes and the Lindbergh. Broadly the three are the same, with 40mm stainless steel cases, finished black, with a 12-hour worldtimer rotating bezel and a red anodised aluminium bezel lock. The 12-hour worldtimer bezel is a bit of an anomaly as the standard format is 24-hours, but at least they’ve included important city names allowing you to track the time across (most of) the world at a glance.

In addition to above base features, each model has a unique aspect. The Hughes has a rose gold coloured finish to its case that gives it an added elegance and jet-setting aesthetic. Whereas the Lindbergh comes on a bracelet as opposed to the fabric straps of its siblings. Lastly, the Doolittle has a dark green dial instead of black.

Speaking of the dials, they’re all pretty nice. A central sector pattern is enwrapped by a date indicator ring, outside of which are bold rectangular hour markers and a peripheral minute scale. That sector pattern screams retro-vintage while the layout of the date gives the Aero Worldtimer a technical appearance that’s appealing.

Under the surface beats the TMI NH35A/ NH39 automatic movement, a step up from the meca-quartz calibres UNDONE sometimes uses. Although It’s still a pretty standard work horse piece with a 41-hour power reserve, which is about what you’d expect at this level of accessibility.

And these are very accessible with Hughes and Doolittle priced at £339 and Lindbergh at £424 because of the bracelet. Between the retro aviation style, automatic movement, accessibility and slight quirkiness, the UNDONE Aero Worldtimer seems like a winning combination.
