Oris has been partners with Cervo Volante since 2022 and the launch of their inaugural series together. Now, a few years later they’re teaming up again with a follow up model in the same style, the Oris x Cervo Volante Big Crown Pointer Date in orange. A shade they’re specifically calling burnt maple.
For the uninitiated Cervo Volante are a sustainable leather manufacture from Switzerland who produce goods from deer leather sourced from the land management programs required to maintain the country’s alpine forests. They produced the straps for the original 2022 collaboration and you may well have spotted the Cervo Volante name on a lot of Oris’ other leather straps across the intervening years, as they became one of the brand’s most popular suppliers. The new watch is essentially a reaffirmation of that partnership, raising awareness for Cervo Volante again and their sustainable ethos.

The watch itself is a very nice 40mm pilot’s watch with a coin edge bezel. The dial features that signature burnt maple gradient, transitioning from orange to brown around the edge where the date scale is found. While I know it’s called maple because of its darker, syrupy colour, part of me would like it to be a touch brighter and then we can call it marmalade. Maybe Oris can even get a Paddington collab while they’re at it, can’t be much harder to arrange than the Muppets (I’m still waiting for a blue Gonzo edition).

Below the dial is the calibre Oris 754 with 41-hour power reserve, base Sellita. It’s not one of their in-house creations but that helps keep the collection more accessible compared to the pricy Oris Calibre 400 models. Specifically, it’s £1,900, the same as the original 2022 collection, which makes sense because other than the dial colour it’s the same watch.
