The Oris Divers Sixty-Five is one of the nicest vintage styled dive watches around. It’s based on the skin-diver archetype from the 1960s, hence its name, while remaining aesthetically distinct from the other iconic 60s divers like the Submariner and Fifty Fathoms. Back in 2023 they updated the line by introducing a chronograph model and now we have a follow up in the form of the Oris Divers Sixty-Five Chronograph Ocean Green.
It’s essentially a fresh colourway that features a sunray brushed silver base and dark green accents for the subdials and bezel. The precise tone of green is based on the Green Gradient dive watch launched last summer. A dark and slightly desaturated tone that doesn’t quite reach olive. It’s designed to be reminiscent of the oak forests that flank the sides of the Hölstein valley where Oris has its headquarters.

Though as this is the Ocean Green, I suppose it’s thematically more appropriate to describe it as kelp green. Although with a water resistance rating of 100m, it’s not quite so thoroughly dedicated to life in the water as the Aquis. It harks back to a time, in the 60s, when water resistance was still being developed. The term skin diver refers to someone who is diving unassisted by scuba or dive gear – literally just diving in their exposed skin – so a skin diver watch is one designed for use near the surface of the water.
That goes doubly so with the integration of a chronograph function. The chrono is controlled by the vintage-style pump pushers flanking the crown, which start, stop and reset the central chronograph seconds hand and 30-minute timer subdial. The other subdial in the bicompax display is the running seconds, which is a standard on dive watch chronographs because it’s important to have quick visual confirmation that your watch is still operating underwater by seeing the swift motion of the seconds hand.

Powering the watch is the Oris Calibre 771, base Sellita, with a 62-hour power reserve. That movement is protected by a solid steel caseback decorated with the Oris shield logo, mirroring the shield hour marker at 12 o’clock on the dial. It’s presented on a choice of Cervo Volante sustainable leather strap for £3,400 or steel bracelet for £3,550.
