After building a third death star in their previous watch, Kross Studio is continuing their villainous streak (or should that be anti-villainous these days) with an homage to the original Mandalorian bounty hunter, Boba Fett.
Built on the same 45mm titanium case and central tourbillon movement, the new piece is draped in Fett’s rust red and military green livery instead of the Death Star’s black. At the centre is the Slave II Firespray gunship, turning on the tourbillon cage while Fett’s Mandalorian jetpack and its in-built missile keep pace with hours and minutes, respectively.
It’s an insane bit of watchmaking, with each piece of the starship taking 90 hours to finish. Add in an incredibly intricate movement with 220 parts and you get a watch that, yes, is a novelty piece, but also has undeniable haute horological chops.
To display the watch, Kross Studio has teamed up with EFX to build a replica model of the Slave II in precisely the same dimensions of the model used to film The Empire Strikes Back. The watch, obviously, pilots from the cockpit. It even comes on its own landing pad. Jango would be proud – if, you know, he still had a head.
