Introducing: Omega Seamaster Diver 300M “James Bond” Platinum-Gold Numbered Edition

Omega Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Numbered Edition It doesn’t feel like too long ago we were talking about the Bond watch for the 25th instalment of the franchise, the cool, military-slanted Seamaster 300m 007 Edition (more on that here). But now that No Time to Die finally has a release date of, fingers crossed, 12th of November, Omega has revealed their actual tie-in limited edition, the Seamaster Diver 300m James Bond Numbered Edition.

The in-film watch was a nice surprise, simple, restrained and unusually subtle. This though is more what we’re used to seeing from Omega’s superspy-inspired pieces.

Housed in a 42mm case made from a platinum-gold alloy, there’s also a plate attached to the side in the same material engraved with the Numbered (not limited) edition number. It’s an unusual choice of precious metal but a nice change all the same.

Most of the action though is happening on the black lacquered dial, which has been applied with the spiralling gun barrel pattern that opens every Bond film in white gold. Hidden on that dial, within the lume of the 10 o’clock index, is the number 50 – a reference to the 50th anniversary of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Because apparently that’s a date worth commemorating.

Flip the watch over and you’ll find the final flourish, Bond’s coat of arms, laser engraved and gold-filled over the sapphire caseback. You can just about see the ever-impressive Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8807 through it.

The non-bond details are lovely, too, such as the ceramic bezel ring with a tactile platinum diving scale that stands out in relief, but let’s be honest, this is one for the fans and the fans alone. It’s not… subtle. Still, it does come with its own Globe-Trotter suitcase, which is nice.
