H. Moser & Cie.’s New Endeavor Centre Seconds Concept Lime Green Is an Ode to Enamel

H. Moser & Cie Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept Lime Green

H. Moser & Cie. have that rare combination of being an extremely talented artisanal brand with a genuinely funny sense of humour. Just look at the recent “Perpetual Calendar for Dummies”, a masterpiece of watchmaking and wit. Their latest watch, the Endeavor Centre Seconds Concept Lime Green, focuses squarely on their watchmaking ability.

Specifically, their exquisite fumé enamel dials are front and centre. The Concept Lime Green is the debut of a new colour of enamel for H. Moser, which has been developed by their artisans with a focus on retaining its vibrancy. Grand Feu enamel requires being fired 12 times before it’s finished, meaning there are plenty of opportunities for each dial to lose the desired colour or break during the process.

Additionally, they have been experimenting with alternative textures that impact the overall finish of the enamel. This is achieved by altering the metal base onto which the enamel is applied. For the Endeavor Concept Lime Green, they’ve used hammered gold for the base. Because Grand Feu is technically translucent, the gold helps maintain the vibrancy of the green and the hammering is borne out in the granular finish of the dial. It’s very different to enamel’s typical smoothness.

In terms of the dial’s display, it’s been left as minimal possible. Only the central hand stack of hours, minutes and seconds disturbs the enamel and there are no hour markers or logos of any kind. The only hint of additional decoration is the fact the seconds hand is purple, which is a signature feature of the HMC 200 automatic calibre housed below.

The movement is produced by H. Moser & Cie.’s sister company Precision Engineering AG. It has a 3-day power reserve and features a double hairspring. It’s also finished to the same level of quality as the dial with Moser stripes.

In keeping with the dial and the movement’s tendencies towards simple design executed to the highest level, the case itself is also refined and elegant. It’s stainless steel with a diameter of 40mm with smooth lugs and a fixed bezel. The crown has a hint of fluting and is engraved with an M for Moser. On the reverse side is a sapphire exhibition caseback revealing the HMC 200 inside.

It will be great to see this level of vibrancy and the texture on the dials of H. Moser & Cie.’s other collections like the Heritage and Streamliner.
