Christopher Ward Introduce Smaller C63 Sealander GMT at 36mm

Christopher Ward C63 Sealander GMT 36mm

Evidently Christopher Ward are serious about creating a complete range of smaller, vintage-style proportioned watches. Because in addition to the new Twelve 36 (Ti) they’ve now launched the C63 Sealander GMT 36mm. At its core, it’s identical to the C63 Sealander GMT 39mm (one of Christopher Ward’s best sellers) just at the new, more svelte dimensions.

Let’s start with that case, it measures 36mm in diameter in stainless steel with a height of 11.15mm. Having worn The Twelve 36, I can attest to the fact that that diameter feels very small on the wrist, and I don’t have the largest wrists to begin with. However, the Sealander does have a longer lug-to-lug of 43mm compared to the Twelve’s 40.8mm, which makes a huge difference despite sounding like not all that much. So, it should be very comfortable to wear for a wide range of people of any gender.

Aesthetically, these really are just miniaturised versions of the 39mm versions right down to the fixed 24-hour GMT bezel. It even the same selection of dial colours available too – black, white and dragonfly blue. The white and black are both classic and really emphasise the model’s similarities to the Rolex Explorer II while the dragonfly blue is a little more vibrant and visually distinct.

Christopher Ward C63 Sealander 36 GMT

Powering the Christopher Ward C63 Sealander GMT 36mm is the Sellita calibre SW 330-2 automatic with 56-hour power reserve. It’s equipped with hour, minute, seconds, date and GMT complications. A GMT hand allows the watch to display the time in two time zones simultaneously, with the regular hour hand showing the time locally and the 24-hour GMT hand set to another, ideal for the jet-setting traveller and adventurer.

It’s presented on a choice of three-link Bader bracelet, five-link Consort bracelet or Aquaflex rubber strap, all of which are equipped with a quick release system for ease of change. The strap options also affect the price with the Aquaflex the most accessible at £905, followed by the Bader at £1,020 and the Consort at £1,060. It’s not the most exciting set of releases in the world but a solid extension of a popular watch collection and as I’ve always said, giving collectors more options to match their tastes is always a positive.
