Parmigiani Fleurier Unveil the Carillon Tourbillon With Four-Note Chiming

Parmigiani Fleurier Carillon Tourbillon

Parmigiani Fleurier has unveiled the Carillon Tourbillon to mark the brand’s 30th anniversary. This limited edition timepiece combines a minute repeater carillon with a tourbillon regulator in a single movement. Additionally, the watch draws inspiration from an early 19th-century Perrin Frères pocket watch from the Sandoz Collection, which Parmigiani Fleurier restored in 2000.

The case measures 41.60mm in diameter and 12.60mm in thickness, crafted from 18ct white gold. Furthermore, the design incorporates vertical gadroons inspired by classical columns, a signature element in Parmigiani’s aesthetic language. The case provides 10m of water resistance.

Meanwhile, four serpentine gongs create the watch’s most distinctive visual feature, curving around the dial and visible through the sapphire crystal. The dial itself features a morning blue finish with hand-hammered white gold construction. On top of that, the visible hammers show their mechanical choreography on the dial side.

Inside the Carillon Tourbillon sits the PF950 calibre, a manual-winding movement comprising 456 hand-assembled components. The movement operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour and delivers an exceptional 12-day power reserve. In terms of construction, three barrels power the watch: two superimposed barrels for the gear train and a third dedicated solely to the striking mechanism.

The chiming mechanism produces a four-note melody using four distinct gongs. Specifically, one low-pitched gong sounds the hours, one high-pitched gong marks the minutes, and two additional gongs each contribute their own note for the quarter hours. However, the striking mechanism includes an integrated regulating flywheel that ensures constant energy flow and perfectly regular cadence throughout the chime sequence.

The tourbillon regulator and power reserve indicator appear on the movement’s reverse side rather than the dial. This positioning reflects Parmigiani Fleurier’s philosophy of restrained visibility, where mechanical virtuosity reveals itself through observation rather than immediate effect. Furthermore, the movement features mezzo vibrato decoration executed entirely by hand across its surfaces.

The watch is presented on an Akoya grey hand-stitched alligator leather strap, finished as a double-sided construction. An 18ct white gold pin buckle completes the strap assembly. The combination provides both comfort and aesthetic coherence with the white gold case construction.

Parmigiani Fleurier Carillon Tourbillon

The Parmigiani Fleurier Carillon Tourbillon is limited to just five pieces worldwide, reflecting the intensive hand-crafting required for each example. Additionally, as part of the Objets d’Art series, it’s price on request.
