H. Moser & Cie. Launch Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept Purple Enamel

H Moser Endeavour Centre Seconds Purple Enamel

When it comes to contemporary independent watchmaking, few brands manage to fuse innovation with traditional craftsmanship quite like H. Moser & Cie. Known for their minimalist, logo-free dials and daring use of materials, the brand has made a name for itself by reinterpreting classic techniques through a modern lens. Enter the H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept Purple Enamel, Ref. 1201-1200 – a watch that takes their famed fumé dials to a new level, blending the richness of Grand Feu enamelling with a fresh, avant-garde aesthetic.

The dial of the Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept Purple Enamel is nothing short of mesmerising. Dubbed “Purple Haze,” this unique hue is achieved through a complex enamelling process that involves layering six different pigments onto a white gold base. The result is a deep, shifting gradient that captures light in a way that feels almost liquid. Unlike traditional fumé dials, this one features a hammered texture beneath the enamel, creating a sense of depth and dynamism. The same technique was used on the Lime from 2022. The absence of a logo or indices allows the dial’s artistry to take centre stage, emphasising H. Moser & Cie.’s philosophy of understated luxury.

Complementing the dial are the elegant leaf-shaped hour and minute hands, finished in polished steel, while the central seconds hand stands out in a striking purple hue. This deliberate touch ties together the overall theme, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to detail and cohesiveness in design.

Encasing this masterpiece is a 40mm stainless steel case, measuring a slim 11.2mm in height. The proportions strike the perfect balance between wearability and presence, ensuring it sits comfortably on the wrist while still making a statement. H. Moser & Cie. has opted for a fully polished case, which enhances the way light plays off the dial, further accentuating its depth and complexity.

A sapphire crystal caseback reveals the movement within, providing an unobstructed view of the brand’s meticulous finishing. The screw-down crown, adorned with the signature “M,” offers ease of use while maintaining the refined aesthetic that defines the Endeavour line.

At the heart of the H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept Purple Enamel is the HMC 201 automatic calibre, a Swiss-made movement that exemplifies Moser’s dedication to precision and performance. Measuring 32mm in diameter and 5.5mm in height, this movement runs at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers a robust 72-hour power reserve.

A key highlight of this calibre is its partially skeletonised bridges, allowing for a captivating view of the movement’s inner workings. The anthracite-finished components, adorned with Moser’s signature double stripes, further reinforce the brand’s attention to detail. The movement also boasts a bi-directional pawl winding system, ensuring optimal efficiency in energy transfer, and features a solid 18-carat gold oscillating weight, beautifully engraved and visible through the caseback.

Tying the entire aesthetic together is a hand-stitched purple Kudu leather strap. Known for its rich texture and durability, this strap enhances the deep hues of the dial, creating a seamless transition between case and wrist. Fitted with a stainless steel pin buckle, it provides a secure yet comfortable fit, ensuring the watch remains elegant and refined in every setting.

  • What an absolutely beautiful watch.
I do like a bit of colour either on a dial or strap, but to get both, and totally matching, now that is a thing of beauty.
Only one thing missing from my perspective (and literally missing) are the hour markers, yes I know that this brand likes to keep things simple, but I do like to be able to read the time on a watch face. The only other negative is the price, but other than those two factors, a truly lovely elegant watch that has that special “lift” but no bling.
Just wish I had the funds to buy one (despite the lack of hour markers).
