Skeleton Concept Team Up With Hennessey for the Venom F5 Concept Rolex Daytona in Sapphire

Superlatives get thrown around a lot these days and for the most part they’re exaggerations. However, every now and then you’ll come across something that is genuinely the best in its field. For example, Rolex just launched a watch with the deepest depth rating on a commercially available timepiece, in the form of Deepsea Challenge. For their latest project Skeleton Concept have been inspired by a superlative of a different variety: the fastest car in the world, the Hennessey Venom F5. This is the Skeleton Concept x Hennessey Venom F5 Concept Chronograph.

If you’re unfamiliar with Skeleton Concept, you can read all about them here, but in brief they’re a French atelier who specialise in customising watches (typically Rolex Daytonas) with intriguing skeletonised displays and sporty cases. For the Hennessey Venom F5 Concept Chronograph they’ve used a base Daytona Ref. 116520 rendered in the highest performance materials possible.

To that end, it has a sapphire crystal case with a carbon fibre bezel, both of which are extremely strong and lightweight materials. In this regard it embodies the core principles of the Venom, strength and speed. However, the central focus of the watch is the dial, which reveals the inner workings of the Rolex calibre 4130 with an accuracy of +/- 2 seconds per day and has a power reserve of 72-hours. It’s every bit as high performance as the Venom F5.

Personally, I feel like the Skeleton Concept x Hennessey Venom F5 Concept Chronograph misses the dynamic shapes of the Venom F5’s body work, which is a breathtakingly beautifully car. But that’s because they’ve focused on the spirit of the car rather than its physical appearance. Plus, a sapphire Daytona is still jaw drop worthy.
