Vacheron Constantin have been flexing their muscles in 2022 with some of the most extraordinary Métiers d’Art releases as well as phenomenal sports luxe watches like the Historiques 222. However, not every watch released by a brand has to reinvent the wheel and simple recolours can be just as welcome. Vacheron Constantin’s latest recolour certainly is, painting the Overseas Chronograph in pink gold and blue.
Pink gold – used for the watch’s 42.5mm case and bracelet – is a specific alloy of gold similar to rose gold. Pink gold is actually a purer form of gold than its rose cousin as it uses less copper in its production, which gives it a slightly brighter tone. It provides a luxurious alternative to the previous Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph models in steel.

The watch’s dial features Vacheron Constantin’s signature blue-lacquer with sunburst satin-brushed finish. It’s a richly saturated colour that works harmoniously with the pink gold indexes and hands, the warmth of the gold contrasting to the cold blue.
Inside, the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph houses the manufacture Calibre 5200 with automatic winding and a power reserve of 52-hours. The 5200 has indications for hours, minutes, chronograph seconds, small seconds, 12-hour timer, 30-minute timer and the date. It’s visible through the watch’s sapphire crystal caseback, allowing you to admire the Maltese cross emblazoned gold rotor.

It’s presented on a choice of three different strap and bracelet options. The first is the pink gold bracelet, which really leans into the luxurious and lustrous aesthetic of the material. Then there’s a blue calfskin strap with grey stitching and a blue rubber strap with an intricate textured pattern.

Ultimately, pink gold and blue is a colourway the Overseas collection is very familiar with so seeing the chronograph model receive a new model in this style isn’t a huge surprise. However, as I set out at the start of this article, that doesn’t at all detract from how lovely the watch is. Although, if push comes to shove, I’d still probably pick the 2021 Overseas ‘Everest’ Chronograph as my favourite version.
