Oris Introduce Three New Aquis Date ‘Mother of Pearl’ Diving Watches

Recently Oris have been experimenting hard with new and interesting dial concepts. First came the Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candies in pastels, then the Aquis New York Harbour (featured in our Luxury Dive Watch guide) with a mother of pearl dial. Now Oris have fused the two together to create three pastel Oris Aquis Date 36.5mm Mother of Pearl watches.

Similar to the Cotton Candies, the three colours that are available are Blush Pink, Aegean Blue and Seafoam Green. However, unlike the Candies, the new watches have the iridescent qualities of mother of pearl, which makes them shimmer under the light. Plus, mother of pearl is appropriately aquatic for a professional diver like the Aquis Date 36.5mm.

The Oris Aquis Date ‘Mother of Pearl’ measures 36.5mm which is particularly small for a diving watch but it’s well-established for the Aquis thanks to previous models like the Upcycle. It still has 300m water resistance and that’s the most important spec.

Housed inside the steel case is the Oris Calibre 733, based on the Sellita SW200-1, with 38-hour power reserve. It would be cool to see if Oris could create a small watch featuring their premier Calibre 400 in the future instead of relying on underwhelming Sellita movements. However, since they’ve just launched the lovely Divers Sixty-Five 12H Calibre 400, it’s hard to be too critical. All three colourways are priced at £1,800.
