Zenith Watches and Swizz Beatz Reveal Limited Edition Skeleton Defy Watch

Zenith Defy Classic Swizz Beatz Edition

The Defy Classic Black Ceramic is one of Zenith’s coolest recent pieces. Well, it was. Now it’s been usurped by a version with a dash more hip-hop street cred courtesy of Grammy award-winning producer Swizz Beats in the new Zenith Defy Classic Black Ceramic Skeleton Swizz Beatz Edition.

The standard version of the black ceramic Defy (which you can read more on here) was stealthy to the point of menacing in pure black and dark grey. That just wouldn’t do for a hip-hop celebrity like Monsieur Beatz. Instead he’s decked the watch out with flashes of his signature colour.

The dial is as technical-looking as ever, but now boasts a striking orange chapter ring, complete with a matching central seconds hand and a rubber strap you can see from a good mile away. It also comes on contrast-stitched black leather, but where’s the fun in that? The caseback has also been engraved with Swizz Beatz own motto of “Confidence + Positivity = Longevity”. We’re not quite sure on his maths there, but to each their own.

Other than those changes, it’s the same watch as the standard version. It has the same Elite 670 SK automatic movement with 48-hour power reserve; the same high-tech black ceramic case with a shape inspired by classic defy models and the same openworked dial. The biggest difference really is how the watch is presented.

In keeping with the musical partnership, the 50-piece limited-edition comes in a box alongside a 10-inch turntable. I doubt you can do much mixing on it – and we can only assume it comes with a Swizz Beatz vinyl – but it’s still one of the coolest presentation boxes we’ve seen for a while. And we’ve seen a lot.
