God knows there are enough tie-ins out there with famous automotive makers. Hell, you can read our piece from not long ago about watch/car collabs here. That’s why it’s almost become second nature to roll our eyes at those kinds of things. In fact, the only ones we’re even inclined to pay attention to are the ones that are just too good to ignore.
Fortunately, we’ve always been fans of British heritage label Private White V.C. so they have a little bit of an advantage. Add in the quintessential English marque that is Jaguar and there’s plenty of reason already to sit up and take notice.
It doesn’t take too much of an imagination to guess that the collaboration entails driving-wear. Don’t worry though, we’re not talking about tastelessly branded bags here but a practical necessity. No driving gloves are not a practical necessity, they’re a pretentious one. A good jacket is.
The Private White V.C. x Jaguar Driving Jacket (£595) is both comfortably practical and effortlessly cool in a 1960s vintage way – the hallmark of pretty much everything Private White does.
We could go on about how the weatherproof cotton outer layer makes it as hardy as any raincoat but actually breathable; how the detachable wool liner is warm enough to cope with those early morning moments before the car finally heats up or it’s surprisingly elegant cut. We could, but all you really need to know is that Private White VC’s limited edition piece is one hell of a coat.
