The PRX has become a flagship release for Tissot. Released last year and having undergone a few cool variations throughout 2022, it’s one of the most accessible, integrated bracelet, 70s-inspired sports watches around – and now it’s joining the rarefied ranks of Bucherer blue. The new Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 Bucherer Blue Limited Edition in partnership with the world’s largest watch retailer takes the retro bi-colour PRX and surprisingly, makes it more accessible.
The current rose gold and steel version uses a solid 18kt fluted bezel; the Bucherer Blue edition however opts for a yellow gold-plated bezel instead. It’s a small touch aesthetically but makes a massive difference in price. The other change is the dial itself. The PRX already has a blue dial, but here it’s been given a Royal Oak-esque waffle pattern, amping up the Genta-inspired sports luxe vibe the PRX has made its name with.
Equipped with the superb Powermatic 80 calibre automatic movement – and the 80-hour power reserve it takes its name from, there’s a lot to love mechanically, too.
While not ground-breaking by any stretch of the imagination, the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 Bucherer Blue Limited Edition is nonetheless a damn lovely riff on what’s quickly becoming a modern classic of a timepiece. With only 888 available though, and priced at £590 getting one might be easier said than done.
