The New Ferrari Monza is Already Sold-Out

Ferrari Monza SP2

There’s good news and bad news. The good is that there’s a new Ferrari hypercar that’s purported to be the single most powerful the marque has ever built. The bad is that you won’t be getting one.

The new Monza SP1 and SP2 models are simply insane, with 810 horsepower and a 0-60 sprint time of under 3 seconds. Yeah, they’re quick. Thanks to the open top, they’re being described by Ferrari as “probably the closest and purest driving experience to Formula 1” and we’re desperate to take a spin.

That unfortunately isn’t seeming likely given that all 500 of the new cars, both the single and two-seaters, have been pre-sold – and that’s despite the £1m+ price tag. Well, at least buyers will be getting a Ferrari jumpsuit to go with it. Just announced and already snapped up… if it were anyone but Ferrari we’d be surprised.

We don’t know much else about the SP1 and SP2 other than they look fantastic. The cars are the first part of a collection dubbed ‘Icona’, which will all be based on 1950s racers. There’s definitely something of old-school racing in the Monza’s lines, but with the performance of a modern hypercar.

As for what’s next in the collection… well, we know already that Icona will include Ferrari’s first SUV. We’ll let you judge whether that’s good news or not; we’ll be reserving judgement. If it’s anything like the Monzas though, it can’t be a bad thing.

With an unprecedented 15 new cars due from the Icona collection, you can also expect a few more hypercars along the lines of the Monza. If that is indeed the case, let’s hope it won’t be quite so limited. We’d like to think we can at least have a chance of getting one.
