Gone are the days of Ibiza as a clubbing destination for barely-teens looking to get smashed on ouzo. Thank god; I’m certainly not going to miss those dark, dark days and I doubt you are either, particularly when you get a good look at what Ibiza is offering nowadays.
Luxury is the new name of the game for the white island, with some serious contenders opening across the shore in the last couple of years. And yet the magnificent top suite at the Ibiza Gran Hotel continues uncontested as the finest place to stay on the island.
At 370 square metres, the Ibiza Luxury Gran Suite is, put simply, the most spectacular stay on the island. Of course, it goes without saying that space is one of the most obvious luxuries on show. The suite features three separate bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, hall and guest bathroom; a living room nothing short of capacious and the necessary suite of pool, whirlpool bath and solarium.
All of the facilities however, all of the space, pales in comparison to one aspect in particular: the terrace. Spread across nearly half the apartment at 170 square metres, it’s from here that you can survey your kingdom, from the Old Town to the perfect white-sand beaches. It’s also a handy sun trap for a lovely glass of Spanish wine. Just to cool down, of course.
You never need to leave the suite if you don’t fancy it; a 24-hour butler service ensures that you can have whatever you need delivered directly to your door. If you do decide to escape your rooms – I’m not sure why you would, but to each their own – there’s a Bentley Bentayga ready to take you wherever you need to go.
Even venturing out of the suite, you’d be hard-pressed to leave the hotel itself. If you don’t find yourself whiling away the hours at the 1,300 square metres of spa, the 5,000 of gardens is a perfectly-manicured maze.
None of this is particularly new; the Ibiza Gran Hotel was one of the earlier of Ibiza’s serious luxury hotels and in many ways is the blueprint that the rest have been following ever since. But then, with its white sand, stunning climate and great local food, The White Isle already has the ingredients of a paradise.
Now that the pre-teen clubbers have emigrated to pastures new, now you can even enjoy the view – preferably from your vast sun terrace. More at: ibizagranhotel.com
