In 2020 Rolex launched five new colourful dials across the Oyster Perpetual range at 31mm, 36mm and 41mm in Tiffany blue, yellow, orange, green and white. Now, for 2023, they’ve combined all five of those colours into a new celebration bubble dial design that’s available at all sizes.

The dial has a Tiffany style turquoise base with bubbles dotted across it in each of the additional colours as well as a few extra in turquoise too. It has an attractive graphic style thanks to the black border around each of the bubbles. Rolex describe the pattern as a celebration motif, implying that they might be the bubbles of champagne or perhaps even balloons at an event. Either way, it’s extremely colourful.
Outside of the dial, it’s the Oyster Perpetual we already know and love. A relatively understated design with satin finishing that shines in Oystersteel at either 31mm, 36mm or 41mm. It’s arguably Rolex’s entry model with the least specialised design – by which I simply mean it’s not a chronograph like the Daytona or a somewhat professional model like the Yacht-Master.
Which movement powers the Oyster Perpetual Bubble Dial depends on which size you opt for. The 31 is equipped with the calibre 2322 while the 36 and 41 have the 3230 (that’s the same movement as used in the new Explorer 40). The former has a 55-hour power reserve with the Syloxi hairspring and the latter has a 70-hour power reserve with the Parachrom hairspring.
The Oyster Perpetual Bubble Dial is priced at £4,750 (31mm), £5,100 (36mm) and £5,400 (41mm). They’re fun additions to the range, although they perhaps lack some of the class and understated qualities that makes the Oyster Perpetual great.
