Pequignet Presents the Royale Paris Icy Blue

Pequignet Royale Paris Icy Blue

The Pequignet Royale has the strange distinction of being a watch that was designed to show case the best of an existing calibre that was previously used in other collections, the Calibre Royal – hence the name. It’s a calibre worth celebrating because it’s regarded as the only haute horology movement designed and assembled in France. For 2026 it’s presented in a new colourway, the Royale Paris Icy Blue.

The case of the Royale Paris Icy Blue measures 39.5mm in diameter and is crafted from stainless steel with a round shape and slightly stepped lugs that give a quasi-sporty aspect to its look. It reminds me a little of the Christopher Ward Lightcatcher case, which similarly rides the line between sporty and dressy. It has a water resistance of 50m so it can handle the trials of daily life.

The dial is a standout feature, with its icy blue colour providing a focus-capturing centrepiece with its attractive tone and textured, grainy finish. This frosty design choice reflects the wintery inspiration from the Jura mountains, adding a unique visual element to the watch compared to the sunray brushing seen on previous models.

As mentioned, inside the watch is the in-house Calibre Royal. This automatic calibre operates at a frequency of 21,600vph and provides a substantial 96-hour power reserve. Developed entirely in Morteau, France, it displays the top end of French manufacture capabilities currently – although many French independents such as Yema are also helping to revitalise the French horology landscape. It achieves chronometer level precision and features a calendar along with moonphase and power reserve indicator.

The watch is completed with a pearl grey nubuck leather strap, which complements the icy blue dial. The Pequignet Royale Paris Icy Blue will be available from April 2026, with prices starting from €8,000 (approx. 6,900) reflecting its high quality movement and range of functions.
