Nomos Release a New Club Sport Neomatik 42 Date with Blue Dial

NOMOS Glashütte Club Sport Neomatik 42 Date Blue

Nomos Glashütte are best known for their distinctive designs which blend graphic styles with minimalist aesthetics. Watches like the Club have bold typography with matte dials that have an elegance to their simplicity. Although, the Club is also the least minimal Nomos while also being the sportiest. A fact emphasised by the new Club Sport Neomatik 42 Date Blue’s updated dial and bracelet. Which help to make it one of the most unique watches in the Nomos catalogue.

Really, the main new thing here is the dial. Meaning that the structure is the same as the other 42mm Club Sport including its 300m water resistance, which makes for plenty of sporting versatility. It also houses the same movement, the DUW 6101, which is a staple of Nomos and nothing crazy with its 42-hour power reserve.

The dial itself is a galvanised blue with sunburst finishing. It’s a departure from their traditional matte finishes and gives slightly more of a dressy feel. It feels fresh, adding some shine to the collection as the light plays across the dial and small seconds. It looks great.

Another change that has been made is the bracelet. Bracelets are actually a rarity for the brand, it’s only really the Club and the Tangente that have them and even super popular designs like the Metro are limited to straps. The new bracelet, which was designed especially for the Club Sport Neomatik 42 Date Blue, is their most complex bracelet to date with multiple links with different finishes, as opposed to a series of wide bars. It’s nice but not revolutionary.

Overall, it’s a nice watch, perhaps a little more conventional than the majority of Nomos’ timepieces but that opens up new avenues of design for the future. Also, if you like the brand but find their normal fare a little too out there, this is a great middle ground.
