It’s boxing day and we’re all steadily recovering from the 12-hour food coma. As the red wine-induced haze starts to lift you remember the presents freshly unwrapped still sitting strewn about near the tree. Which are a touch more accessible and also better suited for manual and quartz watches that don’t benefit from winders anyway. Tom Aylwin’s innovative take on luxury watch box design brings a unique personality and considerate customisation to your watch storage. They’re called Contour Boxes and feature accurate carvings of geographic locations on their lids. The specific location that is beautifully rendered is chosen by the customer, reflecting a locale that’s important to their lives such as a childhood home, a favourite holiday destination or any other meaningful place on Earth.
The boxes can be fitted to hold three watches, eight watches or 12 watches, with each watch protected by a British wool fabric roll. Inside there’s also a commemorative inscription that pays tribute to the location, for example one of their most high profile clients Clare Balding commissioned a box with the inscription ‘The best view in the world. You can never be down up on the downs’ a tribute to the Kingsclere Downs which feature as the subject of the contour design.

Ideal as both a storage option kept tucked away in your dresser or as a travel companion for extended trips away from home, the Watch Case by Swaine can store up to eight watches. It has a calf leather exterior, which pays homage to Swaine’s historic mastery of leather goods, dating all the way back to 1750 when they became renowned for their riding and hunting whips.
While the exterior is leather, the interior of the Swaine Watch Case is lined with velvet, providing excellent protection against scratches and knocks while also helping to keep dust at bay.
