Louis Erard x Konstantin Chaykin Release Unfrogettable Regulator

Louis Erard x Konstantin Chaykin Unfrogettable

At this point I assume most people reading Oracle Time are familiar with Louis Erard’s modus operandi, collaborating with the world’s best watch designers and artists to create distinctive interpretations of their Regulator watch in each designer’s personal style. This ranges from the Bauhaus stylings of Alain Silberstein to now Konstantin Chaykin. When it comes to Chaykin’s signature style that means Wristmons featuring displays that look like monsters, animals and characters. So, meet the Louis Erard x Konstantin Chaykin Unfrogettable.

So… yes. This is a frog-based regulator in the aesthetic style of a Chaykin Wristmon. It’s available in green or purple with a grained dial that represents the rough texture of a frog’s skin while the regulator subdials for hours and seconds are shaped like a frog’s eyes. Small nostrils sit below the central minute hand, completing the froggy face. It’s intentionally a bit silly and they’ve leaned into that aspect with an inscription of Louis Erard x Konstantin Chaykin but instead of an x is a heart.

The choice of a frog is not arbitrary. Konstantin Chaykin is a Russian watch designer and the Frog Prince story can be traced to parts of Eastern Europe and Russia before it was popularised, like many fairytales, by the Brothers Grimm. Louis Erard invite you to kiss your watch to discover whether or not a transformation might take place.

For the case, they’ve opted for a modern design measuring 40mm in diameter crafted from Grade 5 titanium. It has long lugs and a golden crown at 12 o’clock. A golden crown for the Frog Prince… get it? Inside the case is the Sellita SW266 -1 automatic movement with 38-hour power reserve. Notably it has been rotated by 90 degrees compared to normal in order to position the crown at 12 instead of 3 and to rotate the regulator display into the horizontal orientation.
