Yema Superman GMT Bronze Black dial watermarked

Yema has been making waves with each new iteration of their iconic Superman, but to focus entirely on their flagship dose of retro diving is to do the Swiss watchmaker a bit of a disservice. Under the hood they’ve been making some serious advances, with a crop of shiny new in-house calibres. Now the second generation of their superb MBP1000 Caliber, along with a new GMT – and two new bronze models to celebrate them.

The first of those models showcases the new time and date calibre, the YEMA2000.  Based on the previous calibre but with upgraded components and an overall honed design, it’s that much more reliable and accurate.

It’s been placed in a lovely bronze and steel version of the Superman available in two distinct dial colours, gray or green, each available in 39mm or 41mm sizes. Otherwise they both have the same bi-colour look, the signature bezel lock system and the same retro diving aesthetics.

If I had to choose, I’d opt for the green and, until the bronze gets a bit of a patina, the leather strap option over the tropic. Once it’s a little more worn, I’d switch to suit the eventual weathered look of the bronze.

The second new movement is the YEMA3000 GMT calibre and is a brand-new number for the watchmaker. It has all the same technical advancements of the 2000, just with a second time zone hand for the signature traveller’s complication.

This time though Yema has opted for a pair of full bronze pieces in either a black or blue dial. The blue is particularly lovely, provided you’ve not seen too many blue and bronze pieces recently. Either way, both are once again available in 39mm or 41mm and available on leather or tropic straps.

That’s not the most limited of limited editions of course, but given that both are currently available via kickstarter at a superb discount (see below for the full prices) I can imagine they won’t be around for all that long.
