Introducing the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Bi-Compass Watch

Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Bi-Compass

It’s no secret that Bell & Ross take their design cues from the cockpits of military aeroplanes. Leaning on a simple, legible aesthetic they create utilitarian watches that are instantly readable and also instantly recognisable. With the new BR 03-92 Bi-Compass Bell & Ross takes this principle of legibility to the nth degree.

Featuring a two-tone colour scheme, the hours are read using the central rotating arrow and surrounding indices and numerals which are coloured in the aviation industry standard Munsell green. The minutes and seconds are displayed using the outer indices and hands coated with “coquille d’oeuf” colourway. The two-tone colour scheme is enhanced with a coating of Superluminova® on the hands, numerals and indices which has been offset with a glare resistant matte black on the dial and casing, ensuring you won’t blind yourself when dogfighting above the clouds.

The fact is that this watch isn’t particularly complicated, especially compared to the watches that have been revealed over the past month. The only real complexity lies in the ultra-light central disc which requires adjustment to the nearest micron to stay parallel to the outer dial. However, it really doesn’t need to be a technical marvel. The design is wonderfully balanced and the small date window between 4 and 5 o’clock does nothing to upset it. Limited to just 999 pieces, they’ll be gone fast.
