New Releases Watches

Introducing: Carl F. Bucherer Adamavi Autodate

If the recent launch of Rolex’s 2020 Oyster Perpetual collection with dials in a host of eye-popping shades proves anything, it’s that the days of watch dials coming in black, white or silver are well and truly over.

Carl F. Bucherer, the manufacture brand established by Swiss retail giant Bucherer, clearly agrees as it’s launched six new stainless steel versions of its Adamavi Autodate in four different muted colours and a choice of 31mm or 39mm cases, almost certainly intended as his and hers options.

The Adamavi is usually one of Carl F. Bucherer’s dressier watches, often produced in gold or bimetal for a more formal jewellery watch so it’s interesting to see the brand widen the design’s appeal with this far more casual, utilitarian look.

This series of six coloured dials is based on an existing silver-dialled Adamavi with flat, vertically brushed dial offset using a contrasting polished finish on the dauphine hour, minute and second hands, the applique hour markers and the convex bezel, which make the watch’s utterly conventional silhouette (round case, tapered lugs) a bit more interesting.

Both case sizes are available in a salmony Nude and Dark Grey (and the silver) while two shades of blue are offered, light for the 31mm model and a dark midnight tone for the 39mm. A date window with black-on-white date disc sits at the three o’clock position.

The 39mm option is powered by a CFB 1950 calibre and the 31mm by a CFB 1963, both automatics offering 38 hours of power reserve, while each watch is water resistant to 30m.

The watches are secured on steel Milanese mesh bracelets with indented grooves to offer more security when resizing the bracelet using the sliding clasp, a patented innovation unique to the brand.

These new watches give the Adamavi collection a far more contemporary edge with the new shades recalling the pastel preferences of, say, Nomos. All this new collection is missing now is a green dial, a dial colour which has taken 2020 by storm.
