While we’ve yet to come across Danish actor Jonathan Harboe ourselves – we don’t speak Swedish enough to appreciate the likes of Underverden – it’s pretty evident the guy has great taste. It’s thanks to his recent design collaboration with About Vintage that we have one of the most stylish divers around right now, the 1926 At’SEA.
Harboe was pretty much given carte blanche to create his ideal watch and, understandably, he went for a vintage-inspired diver, combining About Vintage’s signature Scandinavian style with the actor’s love of all things maritime.
The vintage touches lavished on the new watch include an incredibly-domed sapphire crystal, a flat bezel and a lume-filled sandwich dial, finished with an oversized crown easily useable when encumbered by diving equipment. The result is a solid diver that exudes a distinct retro charm, perfectly in line with the current zeitgeist for throwback underwater watches.
Inside the 1926 At’SEA is powered by a Miyota 8215 calibre automatic movement, a workhorse with a 42-hour power reserve. Given the solid caseback, it’s a great choice; it’s more accessible than many other movements with the same spec sheet.
Because any diver is beholden to its wearer actually wanting to dive, the At’SEA has gone one step further in ensuring it will actually be used. A portion of the sales of the 1926 At’SEA will go towards The Ocean Cleanup, an organisation dedicated to preserving the clean, natural state of the world’s seas.
So whether you’re after a rugged, stylish yet accessible diver or want to support a good cause, the 1926 At’SEA has you covered. Now to go watch Harboe’s back catalogue. With subtitles, of course.
