If you’re looking for a watch that looks far, far more expensive than it actually is, Bravur has you covered. The Swedish watch brand already has an impressive array of affordably elegant pieces, complete with the sort of fine details you can expect in traditional haute horology brands, though simply through great design rather than traditional artisanal skills.
If you’re the kind of realist that only believes what they see rather than what they’re told then take a look at Bravur’s new Geography GMT Limited Edition. Dressed in the ever-appealing colours of green and gold, it’s a handsome watch right out the gate. Sure, the case is PVD-coated steel rather than pure gold, but does that really matter when the whole watch sits at an eminently affordable £1,500?
The steel itself is high-grade Swedish metal, while the elegant case shape has a little more flair than most with fluted sides and crown. It’s a simple extra detail, but it speaks to the care and attention Bravur lavishes on its designs.
Then there’s the dial in a deep, lovely forest green, with large, white indexes around the other ring and a 24-hour scale picked out in gold further in. The smaller size of the GMT hand lets it stand out without needing some flash of fluorescent colour or oversized arrow, maintaining the pared-back, restrained look Bravur is known for.
The only downside to this watch in fact is that only 25 will be made. I say ‘will’ because each piece is built to order rather than having them just sitting in a warehouse somewhere waiting to be sold. It’s not a custom piece, but it’s still good to know that your watch is, and was always going to be, yours alone. Just make sure you get in there quickly; 25 is not a big number.
