We recently took a look at a selection of special edition watches that have been launched in celebration of the 75th anniversary of Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, the prominent Middle Eastern retailer. It’s an anniversary that Seddiqi have been celebrating all year long and there are no signs of them stopping just yet. Coinciding with Dubai Watch Week, Hublot have unveiled the Big Bang Ahmed Seddiqi 75th Anniversary Special Editions.
The launch also coincides with another significant milestone because the Big Bang is celebrating its 20th anniversary, having debuted back in 2005. There are two celebratory watches being produced, the first is the All Black edition in black ceramic and the second is the Titanium Grey, which perhaps unsurprisingly is made from polished and satin brushed titanium. Both versions measure 43mm in diameter with a thickness of 13.2mm, maintaining the characteristic large proportions of the collection.

What makes them stand out as Seddiqi special editions is the use of eastern Arabic numerals across the display. The minute scale, hour scale, date and subdials all feature the regional language. The dials themselves feature a stamped ‘carbon effect’ that looks like an intricate checkered pattern, reminiscent somewhat of the intricate patterns of a keffiyeh.

Below the dial sits the HUB1280 automatic movement with 72-hour power reserve. It’s a chronograph movement allowing you to time events such as the laps of a race or the boiling of an egg. Though as the All Black edition is limited to 10 pieces at CHF 24,900 (approx. £23,730) it’s possible you may have a private chef handle that for you. The Big Bang Ahmed Seddiqi 75th Anniversary Titanium Grey is then limited to 25 pieces at CHF 21,900 (approx. £20,800).
