Frederique Constant Unveil His & Hers Highlife “Couple Edition” Automatic

Frederique Constant His & Hers Highlife Limited Edition

Frederique Constant’s Highlife collection is a cool take on sports-luxe that combine tonneau cases with integrated straps and dress watch style dials that are worth more than their price tag suggests. Earlier this year they released new, smaller versions that reduced the case size from 41mm to 34mm with the aim of appealed to a more feminine market. With both a men’s and women’s version on offer FC are now releasing a his & hers collection, a trend that we don’t see so often these days.

Rather than the more complicated heartbeat or calendar versions of the Highlife, the set of two watches are simple time and date function pieces, emphasising the classy beige dial and gold coloured hands and hour markers. It also helps the watch to have a unisex appeal as the design is identical on both.

As for the case, that’s as you’d expect. Tonneau stainless steel at diameters of 41mm and 34mm respectively. It’s worth noting that Frederique Constant haven’t fallen into the trap of decking out the women’s piece with a bazillion gems and diamonds, something certain watchmakers could learn from for their own ladies’ collections.

While the two watches are as similar as possible, it was impossible to give them identical movements because of the drastic size difference. The 41mm version houses the FC 303, an upgraded Sellita SW200-1 that comes with COSC chronometer certification. Whereas, the 34mm version hasn’t had the same upgrades meaning that while it houses the FC 303, it isn’t COSC certified.
