Typically, it’s easy to spot the popular colour trend that is sweeping through the watch industry such as emerald, sage, mocha, or Tiffany blue. However, in 2026 the zeitgeisty colour is has been a little less obvious: burgundy. While the dark, wine red hasn’t dominated the colour wheel, look closely and it has been more prevalent than you might expect with examples from Doxa, Vacheron Constantin, Farer, Venezianico and more. Now you can add Frederique Constant to that list with the introduction of the new Classic Perpetual Calendar Manufacture burgundy.
Jumping straight to the dial, it is of course presented in the new burgundy colour, giving it that rich wine-like appearance of dark red with a hint of purple under certain lightings. The main portion of the dial is sunray brushed, catching the light in a satisfying manner and giving the piece a radial finish. The perpetual calendar subdials that feature days of the week, months, leap years and date are instead finished with circular engraving.

Beyond the updated colour of the dial, the watch is more or less identical to the standard Classic Perpetual Calendar Manufacture that was introduced in 2025. Measuring 40mm diameter x 12.1mm thickness in stainless steel with a 50m water resistance rating. It also uses the FC-776 automatic movement with 72-hour power reserve, and which is finished with a combination of perlage and Côtes de Genève.
The new Classic Perpetual Calendar Manufacture in burgundy is a limited edition of 100 pieces at a price of £9,350, which is higher than the non-limited versions at £8,695 due to the added exclusivity. I’m glad it stays below five figures (in GBP) because the major selling point of the collection is that it presents a Swiss perpetual calendar at a relatively accessible price point compared to the usual exorbitant prices of the haute horology complication.
