Monday 22nd April marks World Earth Day. Great, we love the environment, the climate and generally surviving as a species. In the short run however we’re more excited about the event as it’s a perfect opportunity to sample some fine tequila. Well, we need to drown our sorrows for the future somehow.
In the spirit of World Earth Day (pun totally intended), premium blue agave tequila Patron is partnering with some of London’s most unique – not to mention our favourite – bars for cocktails with a conscience. Try out a masterclass or just sit back and sip, it’s up to you; either way you can enjoy it with just as much of a self-satisfied air as the recent spate of London climate change protesters. You’ll just smell slightly better.
The Conduit, Mayfair
Never rely on the mercies of a barman ever again! Costing only £55, this exclusive event at one of London’s newest members’ clubs will pay homage to local suppliers and small-scale specialists in the country. Be prepared for good, quality food, prepared by executive chef Merlin Labron-Johnson (who gained his Michelin-star at Portland just nine months after opening). Bar manager and award-winning mixologist, Walter Pintus (previously of The Mandrake, The Connaught and The Ritz, the over-achiever), and head bartender, Cameron Moncaster, will be keeping you watered with agave-laced spirit. Sustainability and usually disregarded ingredients are the stars here, but a few good measures of tequila always helps.

Scout Bar, Hackney
Having always had a sustainable outlook on their work, Scout’s menu focuses on minimal waste and sourcing produce and ingredients locally. Don’t worry, it’s far more delicious than it sounds. Their limited-time cocktail for the event is based on the bar’s belief that waste is a dirty word and will be available from 15th to 29th April. Expect plenty of Patron and innovation at its finest, with The Wasted Avocado cocktail. Using its namesake’s stone and skin, you won’t want to waste a drop.
Where: Scout Bar, 224 Graham Road, London, E8 1BP
When: 15th – 29th April
Eve Bar, Covent Garden
This basement bar is located underneath award-winning chef, Adam Handling’s restaurant, Frog by Adam Handling. The Covent Garden establishment will be keeping the new signature sustainable cocktail on the menu permanently so don’t feel the need to rush here. Give yourself something to look forward to. The Adam’s Apple is inspired by – you guessed it – sustainable dining. It follows the ethos of the restaurant and will utilize leftovers from the pastry section. Created by Scout bar chef, Sam Orrock, you’ll be glad you have more time to get your hands on this one.
Where: Frog by Adam Handling, 34 Southampton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2E 7HF
