Carl F. Bucherer Launch CFB Capsule Collection Featuring Their Greatest Hits

Carl F Bucherer CFB Capsule Collection

This year marks Carl F. Bucherer’s 135th anniversary and to celebrate they’ve taken a look back at some of their greatest hits in the new CFB Capsule Collection. The collection consists of five of their most popular modern watches, like the Manero Tourbillon Double Peripheral, reimagined with a forged carbon or DLC twist.

Manero Tourbillon Double Peripheral Black

The Manero is Carl F. Bucherer’s flagship model and over the years it’s featured almost any complication you care to think of. So it’s little surprise that four out of the five watches in the CFB Capsule Collection are Maneros. One of the firm favourites in the collection is this, the Tourbillon Double Peripheral, now presented in a forged carbon case with a pitch black dial. It’s powered by the CFB T3000 automatic calibre with a peripheral rotor and floating tourbillon.

Manero Peripheral Perpetual Calendar Black

Following in the style of the Capsule Collection, the Manero Peripheral Perpetual Calendar also has a new forged carbon case and a black dial. The dark colourway really emphasises the moonphase complication at 6 o’clock with its twin white gold moons that seems to glow against the inky dial. Inside is the A2055 automatic calibre, which with the perpetual calendar means the watch won’t need adjusting until the year 2100.

Manero Peripheral BigDate Black

The Manero Peripheral BigDate is a classic. Reading this article, you may have noticed Carl F. Bucherer’s penchant for using the term “peripheral,” it is after all their speciality. The concept of it is that by restructuring a movement in specific ways, such as having a rotor that circumnavigates the edge of the calibre rather a wedge fitted to the back, movements can be more aesthetic to look at and also thinner. Giving it both a style and practical purpose. The BigDate Black combines that with their oversized date display on a black dial, housed in a carbon and titanium case.

Manero Flyback Black

Carl F Bucherer Manero Flyback Black

One of my personal favourite Carl F. Bucherer watches is the Manero Flyback, which is why the CFB Capsule Collection Manero Flyback Black is the one I’d pick from the five. Unlike the three watches above, this one has a steel case with a black DLC coating instead of carbon. It gives the piece a smoother appearance with clean lines that suits the chronograph display. Since it’s already a busy watch, the unique pattern of carbon might overwhelm it, a wise choice from CFB. Plus, it also means the Manero Flyback Black isn’t a limited edition like the carbon members of the collection so it’s more accessible.

Heritage BiCompax Annual Black

Carl F Bucherer Heritage BiCompax Annual Black

The Heritage Bicompax Black with its stealthy DLC case makes for a stark contrast next to the colourful Hometown Editions of last year. The dark coating on the case suits the chunky pushers and gives the watch a serious, sporty appearance. Intriguingly, with the white Arabic numerals and hands, it’s reminiscent of a military style field chronograph, although the typography doesn’t particularly lean in that direction.
