Breguet Expand Tradition Series with new Seconde Rétrograde and GMT

Breguet Tradition Series Seconde Rétrograde GMT

Breguet sit at the pinnacle of classical haute horology, a legacy that has been built on the foundation of Abraham Louis Breguet, one of the most influential and important watchmakers in history. One of the collections that best expresses that is the Tradition, a series of watches that looks back at the brand’s heritage while seeking innovation and pushing forward. For 2026 Breguet are expanding the range with new interpretations of the Tradition Seconde Rétrograde and Tradition GMT.

Tradition Seconde Rétrograde

Breguet Tradition Seconde Rétrograde

There are four new versions of the Tradition Seconde Rétrograde, although we had the opportunity to get hands-on with only one of them – the Ref. 7037PT/N9/5V6. It has a 38mm diameter case in platinum, sitting flat on the wrist with a thickness of 12.7mm. It feels like a typical dress watch to wear although the display is much more technical than most dress watches.

That’s because the architecture of the calibre 505 SR has been specially designed to move several elements from the back of the calibre to the dial side, with the balance wheel and gear train occupying the lower half of the display in openworked glory. They’re set against a black backdrop that’s paired with a black Grand Feu enamel time display subdial with hours and minutes. The retrograde seconds that gives the watch its name is positioned to the left of that subdial at 9 o’clock.

In addition to the black, platinum edition seen here, there is a blue version in white gold also at 38mm. There’s then a 37mm white gold edition with diamond bezel and a 40mm rose gold version with grey display (reverse salmon). Of the four variations, I think the platinum is the most suave and sophisticated. For prices, the rose gold is £43,800, white gold is £45,900, the platinum is £50,400, the gemset is £51,300.

Tradition GMT 7067

Breguet Tradition GMT 7067

At first glance, the Tradition GMT looks very similar to the Seconde Rétrograde but there are some significant differences. Starting with the case, it measures 40mm in platinum with a twin crown for controlling local time and home time. That’s then the second major change: the addition of a second time zone, which is offset towards 7 o’clock in black with white western or eastern Arabic numerals. The retrograde seconds indicator is also gone and in its place is a day/night indicator to go along with home time.

On the wrist it wears very similarly to the Rétrograde because while it’s a little larger in the diameter, it’s actually thinner at 12.1mm thickness. It’s also the first model in the Traditional GMT family to be presented on a rubber strap, which increases comfort a lot. It has green stitching to match the fumé Grand Feu enamel dial – the first time that the Tradition GMT dial has been presented in this colour.

Powering the watch is the calibre 507DRF manual winding with 50-hour power reserve. Thanks to the black finishing on the movement it looks relatively understated through the exhibition caseback, which is not a total surprise given that the movement architecture has been structured to place elements such as the balance wheel on the dial side. It’s a cool addition to the line-up and has a price of £63,700.
