Ball Watch are best known for creating rugged tool watches that are equal parts durable, colourful and precise. The Engineer Master II Diver Chronometer, one of their premier dive watches, is no different. Well, except for the fact that it’s only available in a limited colour palette. Until now that is and its launch in a handful of fresh, new colours.
The new versions include a blue gradient, a brown gradient, a green version and a black and white edition. Each offers a totally new interpretation of the design with its sunray brushed dial and internal rotating bezel.

Perhaps the most atmospheric version is the blue gradient version, with an electric blue centre that slowly fades to complete darkness at the periphery. It creates the impression of looking off into the inky depths, deep under water. The brown version has a similar appearance but rather than an aquatic aesthetic, it has a warm, vintage vibe, akin to a tropical dial on a Rolex Submariner.
Moving on from the two gradient editions, let’s look at the full green. With a rich, emerald tone it’s very pretty, especially with the way light plays across the sunray finishing. Green was an incredibly popular colour in 2021-2022 and while it might not have a grip on the zeitgeist like it once did, with watches like this you can see why it’s popular.

The final colourway for the Ball Watch Engineer Master II Diver Chronometer is the black and white version. It features a central black dial with a white internal bezel (which is rotated via the second crown at 2 o’clock). To me, the dial reads as a non-chronograph interpretation of the panda colourway. The white bezel also emphasises the outline of the inbuilt H3 gas tubes that provide luminescence for low light legibility.

Beyond the new colours, this is the Ball Watch Engineer Master II Diver Chronometer as you know it. 42mm stainless steel case with 300m water resistance, shock resistant to 5000Gs and antimagnetic to 1000 gauss. Inside is the Automatic calibre BALL RR1101-C with 42-hour power reserve and COSC chronometer certification.
The four colourways are included as part of a 1000-piece limited edition that’s up for pre-order now. Each of the colours is available with a choice of Ball’s classic green and yellow luminescent tubes or the modern rainbow, as well as multiple strap and bracelet options. It currently has a pre-order cost of £1,590 with a full price of £2,110.
