Angelus Launch Chronographe Tachymètre Monopusher in Gold and Steel Editions

Angelus Chronographe Tachymètre

Right at the start of the year, way back in January, Angelus teamed up with watch platform Monochrome to create the Monochrome Montre de Souscription 5 Angelus Chronographe Tachymètre. Now they’re releasing a series of non-collaboration, non-souscription Angelus Chronographe Tachymètre models in gold and steel. However, it remains exclusive as only 95 watches are being produced, split across the three references.

As with the January edition, the Chronographe Tachymètre is based on the GPHG award winning Chronographe Télémètre model from 2025. That means it measures a svelte 37mm diameter with a thickness of just 9.25mm, which is extremely slim for a chronograph wristwatch. This is possible because it houses a manual-winding movement, removing the need for a bulky automatic rotor that would increase the thickness. The Ref. 0CHCQ.H01A.V1168Q is produced in 18k yellow gold while Ref. 0CHCS.P02A.V1156S and Ref. 0CHCS.U01A.V1155S are stainless steel. All three have water resistance ratings of 30m.

The yellow gold edition is paired with a matching gold-coloured dial and what are described as British Racing Green accents but which to my eye appear much darker than that, verging on anthracite or dark grey. The first steel model has salmon display with a pink dial and silver accents and then finally the second steel model has a grey dial with petrol-blue accents. The display itself consists of central hours, minutes and chronograph seconds with bicompax subdials for running seconds and a 30-minute timer. Around the edge of the dial is the titular tachymeter scale that allows you to calculate your speed over a known distance.

Inside each watch is the A5000 manual chronograph movement with 42-hour power reserve. It’s a monopusher chronograph as well, which means that the complication is started, stopped and reset with a single pusher that is built into the watch’s crown. You can view the movement through the exhibition caseback and see its immaculate finishing including Côtes de Genève, brushing, perlage and polished screw-heads. It has a gilded mainplate and matching bridges while the chronograph mechanism is rhodium-plated, giving you great insight into the calibre’s operation.

As for pricing and availability: the gold edition is limited to 15 pieces at CHF 34,600 (approx. £31,400) while the steel salmon and steel grey are limited to 30 and 50 pieces respectively, both at CHF 18,500 (approx. £16,800). For the steel models, that’s in the same ballpark as the January edition so it’s the expected price. Choosing a personal favourite, I would opt for the steel grey model because I like the sportiness of the blue chronograph features.
