FORCE BLUE is a non-profit organisation with a twin focus of rehabilitating America’s veterans and promoting marine conservation. Their ‘tours of duty’ see veterans execute hundreds of dives in designated marine sanctuaries and removing thousands of pounds of marine debris. It’s a fantastic way to refocus energy while helping the environment. It’s also a cause that watch brand Luminox has been supporting for years but made official with a partnership in 2025. A year on, they’re presenting the Luminox FORCE BLUE Pacific Diver, built in collaboration with FORCE BLUE veterans.
It’s developed specifically to be practical during diving missions with 200m water resistance and a robust 44mm steel case. 300m water resistance is technically what’s regarded as a professional dive watch but Luminox want to balance technical performance with affordability so as not to price out the veterans it’s designed for. It’s also fitted with a CARBONOX unidirectional dive timer bezel for lightweight durability.
For the dial they’ve gone for the high contrast combination of blue and yellow/orange. Blue as the primary colour makes a lot of sense given the FORCE BLUE collaboration – it is rather their signature colour. The orange markings, luminescent gas tube hands and hour markers are then great for low light legibility when operating underwater. There’s also a rope-style motif between the hour and minute tracks which gives it a naval aesthetic.
Under the surface, the FORCE BLUE Pacific Diver houses a Swiss Ronda quartz movement, the 515. While it’s not as prestigious as a mechanical movement, it once again is the pragmatic and sensible solution. This is a watch that might realistically see actual use during dives by the veterans, so ensuring it’s as precise as possible is vital and quartz movements outperform mechanical watches on that front. Additionally, it helps to keep the watch affordable as noted before – this is a watch aimed at people who are not millionaires.
It’s priced at £675 and presented on an expandable rubber strap. The strap choice was a request from the veterans of FORCE BLUE to ensure it can be worn over wetsuits and diving gear as easily as on land. This is a prime example of a watch built and designed to a set brief, and getting it exactly right. Plus, it raises awareness for a cool cause.
