Last year Baltic revamped their chronograph collection under the new title Scalegraph with a Peter Auto special edition that introduced a host of updates and improvements compared to the newly renamed Scalegraph Classic. Now, those updates and improved specs make their debut in a core collection model with the unveiling of a new Scalegraph in three colours.
Starting with the most impactful spec upgrade, the case features an improved water resistance rating of 100m compared to 50m. In order to achieve that, the Scalegraph now incorporates screw-down chronograph pushers to reinforce potential points of water ingress. It’s also thicker, measuring 14.1mm including the sapphire glass as opposed to 13.5mm, though the diameter remains 39.5mm.

For the dials, the new Scalegraphs are essentially a combination of both the Scalegraph Classic and the Peter Auto limited edition. For example, it takes the tricompax chronograph layout from the Classic but fuses it with the hour scale of the limited edition with characteristic sideways bar indexes. For colour, the new series is available in blue, champagne or grey. The blue and grey editions have colour matched aluminium bezels while the champagne is presented with a black bezel instead for a bit of contrast (all the bezels have tachymeter scales). Overall, the updated display, in combination with the improved case, makes the Scalegraph a more versatile sports chronograph suitable both trackside and at formal occasions.

Inside the Baltic Scalegraph is the Sellita SW510-M manual winding with 63-hour power reserve. Its chronograph function includes central seconds, a 30-minute timer at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour timer at 6 and then small seconds at 9 o’clock. It goes dateless unlike the Transat Café L’Or edition that houses the slightly different SW511-BH a.

For pricing, it’s €1,640 (approx. £1,450) on leather strap or €1,700 (approx. £1,465) on steel bracelet. That sits in between the prices for the Scalegraph Classic and the various limited editions, which feels perfectly appropriate for a non-limited edition of the watch with improved specs. Certainly, the most well-rounded version of the Scalegraph to date.
