This past weekend, May 1-3, at Windup Watch Fair San Francisco MB&F unveiled a new edition of the M.A.D.2, their popular jump hour watch designed by Eric Giroud. The new watch is the M.A.D.2 LIVE, an event exclusive watch that is strictly available at only 13 events this year. That means if you LIVE in the UK, you only have one chance to purchase one and that is by attending Hands On Horology on June 13.
The reason for this world tour is that the M.A.D.2 is inspired by Eric Giroud’s love of music and 1990s club culture. So just as the world’s greatest DJs tour the world with their LIVE sets, the M.A.D.2 LIVE is coming to city near you too. And just like those sets, if you miss them, they’re gone.

Getting into the specifics, the M.A.D.2 LIVE presents a new colour scheme for the watch. Instead of the orange, green or red that we’ve seen so far, it’s a clean silver grey with blue hour and minute discs in the centre. a great-looking variation that feels a bit more restrained than its high intensity counterparts, though that’s not to say it doesn’t still have impact. It feels more like the shiny dome of a Daft Punk helmet rather than the Hawaiian shirt of a Fat Boy Slim.

Alongside the updated colour scheme, there will be a custom clasp dedicated to each of the cities on the tour, the equivalent of a tour date piece of merch. For example, the buckle reads SFO for San Francisco and at Hands on Horology will be the exclusive LDN clasp for London. A nice tribute to where you purchased the watch.

Speaking of buying the watch, it’s important to note that the number of pieces available at each event are extremely limited. As such, by attending the event you will be able to sign up to join an allocation raffle at the M.A.D Editions stand and then the raffle will take place a few days after the event. The M.A.D.2 is priced at CHF 2,900 (approx. £2,540).
