Mondaine has launched the Doppio Bauhaus Inspired, a new addition to its Doppio collection that draws from Bauhaus design principles. The Swiss brand describes this as its most important release of the year, introducing a more expressive approach to its minimalist design language. The collection explores the relationship between colour, geometry, and time through modernist design elements.
The watch features a 316L stainless steel case available in two sizes: 33mm and 41mm diameter. Both versions measure 7mm and 7.5mm thick respectively, with polished finishes throughout. The cases include polished steel casebacks and security gaskets for the crown. Additionally, both sizes feature double-domed sapphire crystals with anti-reflective coating.
The dial represents the collection’s core design element, with a concave shape inspired by Bauhaus colour theory as well as geometric symbols on both the dial and caseback. The brand’s signature double-line hands and indexes provide clear readability, whilst the red second hand maintains consistency with Mondaine’s established design language. Furthermore, the 41mm version includes a date function at 3 o’clock.
Powering the Doppio Bauhaus Inspired models are Swiss quartz movements from Ronda. The 33mm version uses the Ronda calibre 763E, whilst the 41mm model features the Ronda 515. The smaller movement offers time display only with a 40-month battery life using a 364 battery. Meanwhile, the larger calibre adds date functionality and extends battery life to 45 months with a 371 battery.
Water resistance reaches 50m (5 bar) across both case sizes and both are super lightweight, weighing 56g for the 33mm version and 85g for the 41mm model. Both versions come fitted with 316L stainless steel mesh Milanese bracelets. The 33mm model uses a 16mm silver bracelet with polished steel buckle, whilst the 41mm version features a 20mm gunmetal IP bracelet with IP polished buckle. The mesh construction allows for micro-adjustment and comfortable all-day wear.
The Mondaine Doppio Bauhaus Inspired launches globally on May 15th through authorised retailers. Pricing for the collection starts at £269 for the 33mm reference MLE.33112.SM, whilst the larger 41mm reference MLE.41221.SM costs £299. Both models come with standard gift boxes, manuals, certificates, and warranty documentation.
