The Cocktail Time is Seiko’s accessible dress watch collection with each piece in the collection dedicated to a different cocktail. It makes for a versatile collection spanning a wide range of colours and dial textures. For their latest addition though, the Presage ‘Silver Bullet’ Cocktail Time GMT, it’s all about simplicity and class.
The Silver Bullet cocktail is most often presented as a shot featuring gin, kummel and lemon juice. There’s no flair or frilly decoration here, it’s simple and dangerously to the point in the best way. That philosophy is translated into the design of the 40.5mm diameter x 12.8mm thick watch, produced in steel with a clean, round design and slightly flared crown.
For the dial it’s a Cocktail Time classic with a radial pressed pattern designed to look like the facets of cocktail glass. In silver, to match the name of the drink, it appears particularly sharp and severe, giving it a confident and refined air. Most of the Cocktail Times are pretty or cute, but this one is handsome.
The GMT complication is presented in a rich blue colour with its 24-hour scale alternating between the standard 12-hour markers. The same colour is used for the 24-hour GMT hand, which is shaped like the stem of a cocktail glass to further the theme of the piece. Similarly, the seconds hand is presented in a gold colour like a swizzle-stick to complete the drink.
Powering the watch is the calibre 4R34 with 41-hour power reserve. As part of the 4R series it’s one of Seiko’s more accessible and widely available movements, which helps keep the Cocktail Time GMT in Seiko’s traditionally accessible price range at £530 – though more and more the Japanese brand has been expanding into more luxury territory.
