British watch brands have a reputation for their use of bright colours and bold designs. Farer, Studio Underd0g, Isotope – they’re all well known for signature creations that frankly would look just as good writ large as a clock as they do a wristwatch. Isotope at least seem to agree, with the launch of the Wall Return and Exit Clock.
The two clocks are based on the Hydrium X, reimagining the 40mm watch as a 35cm wall piece in aluminium. The Wall Return is based on the Will Return with its vibrant red hands and blue bezel, which is itself based on the colourful shop sign used to inform customers about temporary closures for lunch breaks etc. Not a sign I’ve personally seen in the wild but that paints an image of quaint, retro Englishness, nonetheless. This is technically a restock of a design that sold out in its original run.

The Exit Clock is then based on the Hydrium X Exit (no prizes for guessing that). It’s based on the more common exit signs seen in public buildings with the iconic bright green and luminescent elements. For that reason, the entire dial of the Exit Clock is luminescent, glowing in green and revealing the iconic figure of the stick man in the act of exiting. The Wall Return is actually lumed as well but in blue rather than green.

Powering both models is Seiko quartz movement with smooth, sweep motion. Seiko are no strangers to producing clocks of their own so it makes a lot of sense, while also helping to keep the clocks relatively accessible. They’re £244 in limited editions of 300 pieces for the Wall Return and 200 pieces for the Exit Clock, a fun way to build a bit of that quirky charm into your home.
