Lymited art

Limited editions are cool. They’re an excuse for brands – especially watchmakers – to do something that their mainline collections just aren’t ready for. They also happen to be the most solid investments out there and as such next to impossible to get hold of. At least, that goes for the ones that are actually worth adding to your collection.

Often it has nothing to do with how much these things cost. We’ve all been there, seeing a painfully cool piece online and calling your local retailer seconds after the news has broken, only to find out that all 50 pieces have been sold. Time and again it turns out that if you’re not in the know, that if you’re not on all the right lists, you don’t have a chance.

Lymited art

That’s where Lymited comes in. The new platform offers a curated selection of limited editions, one-off, unique pieces and breath-taking rarities in an equal-opportunity framework. If it’s on Lymited’s cutting-edge site and you have the money available, it can be yours. You don’t need to have been a collector for years or taken the brand director out for dinner; if you want it, you can get it.

It’s a relatively simple concept and one that’s not been done before. But why? A good part of the answer is that founder Romane Howsam isn’t your usual luxury CEO. At 9 she bought her first domain; midway through her gap year she started taking her entrepreneurial ideas seriously and now, at the grand old age of 21, she’s ready to launch what promises to be one of the most disruptive platforms in luxury. It’s enough to make us feel incredibly old.

Even then, Lymited is more than just a marketplace with a few seriously exclusive items. Rather than adding new items as and when they become available, the platform offers seasonally-curated selections of items, all of which play into a specific overarching theme.

Hermes Kelly bag

It’s still early days and time will tell what those themes are for the initial collection, but there are already some incredible items we know will be available, the first of which is a one-off custom Hermes Kelly bag, originally made for a VIP client. And yes, it includes the sought-after limited-edition Hermes horseshoe.

Nike’s Air Max 1 Parra

For the sneakerheads out there, Nike’s Air Max 1 Parra will be available at launch, a pair designed exclusively for friends and family of Nike and Parra. It’s a bold design with a few unusual details, they’re the kind of kicks that even dedicated collectors might not have seen before, let alone added to their collection.

Breguet Marine

To round off our preview trio, we have one for the watch lovers: a full-gold take on the Breguet Marine, complete with the tourbillon the watchmaker’s inextricably linked to. It’s as rare as it is beautiful, an incredible piece of haute horology.

If any of these have whetted your appetite then you’re likely counting down the days until Lymited launches in February, then you’re in luck. Oracle Time readers have been given access to the site 24 hours before launch, meaning you can get in there early and claim a limited edition or two of your own. Just click here to register and gain access to an inclusive world of exclusive luxury.
