We’ve all heard of beer goggles. Most of us have put them on more times than we care to count. Cognac though? I’m sure most cognac drinkers like to think themselves above such plebeian problems. Unless of course they’ve downloaded the latest app from Remy Martin.
Don’t worry (or sorry to disappoint as the case may be) but you don’t need to down a bottle of XO for it to work. The app is essentially an augmented reality portal a la Pokemon GO. Use it on your phone and you’ll start seeing strange, rainbow-hued Remy Martin mascots and symbols popping up all over the place.
It’s a little surreal that’s for sure; a sixty-foot tall centaur straddling London is an odd sight. It also has slightly more point to it than catnip for Instagrammers. The crazy vector vine leaves, grapes et al are reflective of Remy Martin’s partnership with graphic designer Matt W. Moore.
His studio’s known for just those kind of pictures, albeit slightly more extreme than an out-of-place mythical man-horse. More importantly, he’s also the designer behind Remy’s new VSOP limited edition.
The box is somewhere between Tron and an acid trip in the best possible way and there won’t be any missing it on your liqueur cabinet. It’s still the same old reliable VSOP inside, but a Remy Martin limited edition is still something worth snapping up – especially as the UK has been given just 60 bottles.
