We wrote about the “last Zonda ever” a couple of weeks ago but apparently Pagani had other ideas. Yet again.
Unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the frankly bonkers looking Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta will be one of only three cars produced by the brand. We’re reluctant to call it a convertible, because while it doesn’t have a roof, neither does it have a folding hard top or canvas roof either. We’ll assume that this isn’t an issue for any of its owners who are more likely to spend their days in the Rivera, somewhere in the UAE or perhaps are rich enough to fashion their own microclimate.
The design of the car is over the top even for Pagani – the trimmed wrap around screen, the rear wheel spats and the air scoop mounted to the top of the engine ensure the car, that’s been with us for nearly two decades now, looks sufficiently Batmobile-esque.
So far technical information has been sparse with no details yet revealed about how powerful or fast it will be, but we’re already hearing rumours that it will be flaunting a 7.3-litre AMG-sourced V12 engine (which spits fire) from the Huayra, while the car itself will weigh in at just 1,250kg thanks to the carbon fibre materials used in the bodywork; www.pagani.com
