Oceaneva have launched a follow-up to 2025’s Tenuis Auto in the form of the new Oceaneva Tenuis Calendar Auto. A watch that rides the line of sports-luxury while offering strong value in comparison to other watches in the field. I’ve been hands-on with the teal edition to learn more about it.

Just because it’s on the dressier side of Oceaneva’s watches doesn’t mean it’s dainty by any stretch of the imagination. It’s fairly broad at 39.5mm x 45mm x 11.8mm in a square design with flattened corners. The large, flat surfaces are ideal for showcasing a range of finishes with a combination of brushing and polishing, letting it catch the light in interesting ways as you move it around. On the wrist, it sits nice and flat with the lugs arching down towards the H-link bracelet with butterfly clasp.

The primary update to this model compared to the 2025 version is the addition of a calendar display. That takes the form of a redesigned dial that now features a tricompax subdial layout with days, months and 24-hour indicator in conjunction with a date window that finds a new home between 4 and 5 o’clock. Each of the subdials features a snailed finish making them contrast to the horizontal engraved lines of the main dial. The lumed hour markers around the edge of the dial have also been altered to accommodate the new display.

As is always the case with Oceaneva, there is a wide variety of colours to choose from, each limited to 50 pieces. The version I have here is the teal, which is a colour that rises to the top of the zeitgeist periodically. It’s also available in blue, ultraviolet, mint green, orange, burgundy, brown and yellow, along with blue and brown in bi-colour cases.

Turning the watch over reveals an exhibition caseback that reveals the Miyota 9120 automatic with 40-hour power reserve. It’s the Japanese manufacture’s premium calendar movement and through the caseback you can see the rotor and frenetic balance oscillating at 4Hz. It’s finished in relatively understated style with a brushed rotor and striped plate.

At the start of this article I mentioned value and the Oceaneva Tenuis Calendar Auto is £1,439 with a pre-sale price of £606. Given the size of the watch head and steel bracelet that’s already a strong value proposition. Then add on the complete calendar and you can’t really find any other watch like this for the price.
