It seems now more than ever car manufactures are constantly one-upping themselves and each other to produce their fastest most insane cars to date. This week it’s Lotus’ turn to give it their best shot. The Evora GT540 is now officially Lotus’ fastest and lightest street-legal car ever produced, partly thanks to its modified 3.5-litre V6 engine which now produces 430 bhp and 325 lb ft of torque in no small amount to neatly implemented aerodynamic and weight-saving technology.

Paired with a six-speed manual transmission and new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, it’ll push a top speed of 190mph while sprinting 0-60mph in as little as 3.7s, putting it within range of some wallet busting supercars.

The GT540 also comes with new carbon fibre front and rear bumpers, front splitter and body panels and a titanium exhaust, reducing the car’s weight by a whopping 26kg.

With the help of new channelling ducts at the front and that rear wing, it manages to produce an impressive 250kg of downforce at 190 mph. Above all of course it somehow manages to look squatter meaner and frankly nastier than most Evora’s, giving it an edge that lotus have been lacking for a little while now.

Only 60 models will be handcrafted Lotus’ Norfolk factory each costing £112,500 so you better be quick if you like the look of it…
