Normally when we hear a watch houses an ETA movement we kind of switch off. I mean, who doesn’t? It’s a mass-produced staple of Swiss watchmaking. The latest from Molnar Fabry however is more than enough to make us sit up and pay attention. This is an ETA Unitas like you’ve never seen it before.

The Slovakian watchmaker (yes, they do exist) is well-versed in creating custom timepieces and the founders’ previous careers in jewellery shine clearer than the multitude of gems they use. In the Gentleman Blue it’s their engraving that’s under the microscope – which, incidentally, is the only way we can imagine them creating patterns intricate enough to rival gunmakers.

Just as elaborate on the front, the Gentleman Blue shows that, just maybe, beauty is skin deep.
